Sacraments

Welcome to our Anglican community, where we celebrate life's most significant moments through the sacred sacraments. These sacraments are not just ceremonies, but profound expressions of faith, love, and hope. We invite you to join us in these holy rites, where we come together to bless new beginnings, unite in love, and honour the lives of those who have passed. Whether you are seeking to baptise a child, celebrate a wedding, or commemorate a loved one, our doors are open to you with warmth and grace. Come, be a part of our spiritual family, and experience the deep connection and peace that our sacraments bring.

Baptism

Baptism is a Christian rite of admission.  Parents are invited to discuss Baptism with the Priest-in-charge.

Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the Christian Church. It is a joyful time of welcome, thanksgiving and belonging. It celebrates the gift of life and of God's love made known in Jesus Christ. St Thomas’ also celebrates a service of Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child if that is your preference to Baptism.

At St Thomas' baptisms take place as part of our regular Sunday worship or as part of a family service on a day and at a time that suits the family.

At least one month's notice is normally required, however Baptisms at short notice are sometimes requested. If the candidate is a child he or she will be sponsored by parents and godparents. Godparents should be over 18 years of age and baptised, and be able to understand the significance of the declaration of commitment and witness they make on behalf of the child or candidate.

There are no set fees for Baptism, however it is customary for the parents to make a thank offering to the Church. This may be put in the collection plate or given to the priest.

To arrange a baptism please contact the Parish Office.
